Post 87s HiToms wrapped up the Area 3 Championship over the Davidson County Post 8s on Friday night 10-1 in a best of 5 series.

With the win, the Post 87s HiToms advance to states and will compete in Cherryville with the date still to be determined. This is the 9th appearance for the Post 87s since 2006.

After falling in game 1 at home, they rebounded winning games 2 and 3 earlier this week. Coming into tonight with a 2-1 series lead, Grayson McDonald, who had thrown a complete game last night started where he left off with a homerun in the top of the first to give the Post 87s the early lead.

Brock Welch had a solo shot for the Post 8s but that is all they would get against the dominant Post 87 pitching staff led by Tony Lopez tonight. The Post 87s added to their lead thanks to a four RBI evening from the eight hole hitter Evan Goodwin and a couple more runs proved to be more than enough as they took home the win 10-1.
