Post 87 Rallies Late to Defeat Mocksville 5-3

THOMASVILLE, N.C. - The Post 87 HiToms rallied late to defeat Mocksville 5-3 Tuesday night to open the senior legion season at Finch Field.

Post 87 plated three runs in the bottom of the fifth to grab a 3-1 lead. HPT then added two more runs in the sixth to extend their advantage to 5-1.

Mocksville opened the contest with a run in the first but was ultimately held in check by starting HiTom pitcher Eli Crump (HP Christian). Crump settled in to toss six innings, earned the win, and fanned five Mocksville batters.

Offensively, the HiToms were highlighted by Michael Peele (HP Christian) and Avery Adams Thomasville HS). Peele tallied two hits, and Adams belted a RBI-double in the sixth.

Mocksville would push across two runs in the top half of the seventh, but HiTom pitcher Derek Martinez (NC A&T) eliminated the final threat with the save.

The Post 87 HiToms will be back in action Friday and on the road to square off against Mocksville once again. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Rich Park.
