THOMASVILLE, N.C. – The Post 87 HiToms used a no-hitter to take down Eastern Randolph 10-0 Monday night.

Derek Martinez (NC A&T) tossed the no-no in five complete innings of work. Martinez struck out seven and was just one walk away from recording a perfect game.

Post 87 improved to 4-0 on the summer with Monday’s win.

Offensively, the HiToms plated seven runs in the fourth by sending 11 batters up to the dish to ultimately force the fifth-inning mercy rule.

The seven-run frame was highlighted by a 2-run, RBI-double from Cole Philbin (HP Christian).

Post 87 will be back in action tonight to square off against Asheboro. First pitch from Historic Finch Field is set for 7 p.m.
