High Point/Thoamsville – HiToms starting pitcher Matt Little (LHP/UNC-Charlotte) earned his first Player of the Week recognition in the CPL after his near complete game no-hitter against the Forest City Owls.
Little got the win after throwing 6.2 innings of no hit ball before the 7 inning contest was ended early because of rain. The HiTom’s southpaw struck out 8 batters and walked just one, allowing two total baserunners the whole game. Little became the first HiTom named POTW this season, and one of several Line of the Night recipients.
Little is in his first season with the HiToms out of UNC-Charlotte and the 49er has posted impressive numbers. In 7 starts he is 3-3 with a 3.93 ERA, 30Ks and 15 BB in 32.1 IP.
From the League office on Little’s performance:
“Meanwhile, Little threw a complete game shutout for the HiToms in game two of a doubleheader on July 8, helping his team to a 2-0 victory over the Forest City Owls. The 6-1, 190-pound lefty went six innings of hitless baseball, walked one and struck out seven to earn the win. Little, a junior at Charlotte, also notched a 0.17 WHIP and a K/9 of 10.500.”
