HITOMS WALK IT OFF, WIN 7-6
The HPT HiToms win a thrilling Sunday evening matchup against the Lexington County Blowfish, with 1B Kaden Smith driving in the tying and winning runs in the bottom of the ninth.
LHP Tanner Kaler started for the HiToms, striking out the side in the top of the first. He finished with six strikeouts and one run allowed in three innings of work.
CF Brantly Truitt put on a show for the HiToms with three base hits and a whopping three outfield assists from his position in center field.
The HiToms fell behind in the bottom of the eighth, when an error on 1B Kaden Smith allowed two runs to score.
In the top of the ninth, down one, Yates Sikes pinch hit and drew a walk to lead off the frame. Subsequently, Truitt and LF Ethan Pulliam both laid down expertly placed bunt singles to load the bases.
Kaden Smith stepped up to the plate and ripped a single through the left side–Sikes trotted home to tie the game, and Brantly Truitt wheeled home to win the ballgame.
