The High Point-Thomasville HiToms travel to McCrary Park in Asheboro this evening to take on the Copperheads in a Deep River series clash.

HPT will start the flamethrower Ben Peterson on the mound tonight. With a fastball reaching speeds of 96 miles per hour, Peterson will hope to sit down many Copperhead hitters. In three appearances thus far this season, Peterson has struck out 10 batters in seven innings en route to a 1-0 record.

Luke Spiva returns to the HiTom lineup for tonight’s matchup after missing last weekend’s games due to a wedding. HPT’s usual leadoff hitter has been getting on base consistently at the plate, batting .395 and drawing 10 walks while adding a home run and seven RBI this season.

Spiva’s bat is returning to a loaded HiTom lineup, but Asheboro has some power of their own. The Copperheads and HiToms are first and second in the Coastal Plain League in slugging, respectively. Expect some offensive fireworks at McCrary Park tonight.

First pitch between Asheboro and HP-Thomasville is scheduled for 7:05. The game is available to stream on flobaseball.tv.
