The HiToms had an exciting comeback on Sunday night, erasing a seven‑run deficit to beat the Forest City Owls 10-8 in a thrilling matchup at Finch Field.
Forest City had jumped ahead 7-0 heading into the bottom of the third, but the HiToms punched back quickly, plating three in the third, six more in the fourth, and capping the surge with a solo homer from shortstop Hunter Keen, his first of the season, to take a 10-7 lead.
“I had a really good feeling he was going to throw me a fastball,” Keen said. “I just tried to put one in the gap, I didn’t really try to hit it out.”
Keen earned “Tommy of the Game” honors after going 3-for-5 with a single, double, and the the solo homer.
The Owls added one in the sixth, but the HiToms held firm the rest of the way to secure the 10-8 win.
“Our bullpen did a good job and kept us in the game after a tough start,” head coach Ted Bergquist said.
The HiToms improve to 5-4 in CPL play and travel to Boone tomorrow for their fourth matchup with the Bigfoots. Follow along for live updates on Instagram @hitomsbaseball or Twitter @HTHiToms.
