The 1-0 High Point-Thomasville HiToms embark on a three-city, four-game road trip on Friday night, facing off against the 2-2 Forest City Owls early in conference play.

The HiToms are on a three-game winning streak throughout the first week. Wednesday night, the HiToms crushed the Carolina Disco Turkeys 10-2, behind a rejuvenated offense. 2020 CPL Hitter of the Year Hogan Windish smashed his first home run of the season to begin the scoring a six-run fifth inning, putting the lead out of the Disco Turkeys’ reach.

Tonight, the HiToms return to Coastal Plain League action in their second and third league games. On Thursday night, Forest City finished with 12 hits at home to get past the Spartanburgers 9-4. Forest City’s two wins are both versus the Spartanburgers this season.

The HiToms start a pair of impressive right-handers tonight. Western Carolina freshman Gavin Mortenson takes the hill for game one. In five starts for the Catamounts, the former Northwest Guilford pitcher was impressive at the high elevation of Cullowhee. Mortenson’s final stats were 24 Innings, 23 Ks and a 4.88 ERA. Mortenson’s most impressive outing came in a win against Charlotte on March 6th. Facing a potent 49ers lineup, Mortenson kept them off balance, allowing just one run across 5.2 innings.

Game two will be the first CPL start for Gabe Golob. The Wake Forest right-hander was strong in his first outing, striking out six while shutting out the Catawba Valley Stars.

First pitch tonight is at 6pm from Forest City. The second game of the DH starts 30 minutes after the final out of game 1. Video coverage of the game is on FloBaseball.tv.
