The High Point-Thomasville HiToms took the field on Wednesday night against the Carolina Disco Turkeys with revenge on their minds. In an exhibition last Saturday, the Disco Turkeys defeated HP-Thomasville in their franchise’s first ever game. The revenge plot proved successful, as the HiToms dominated Carolina 10-2 to earn their third straight victory.
Luke Spiva continued to prove his mettle at the plate for the HiToms, blasting a two-run shot in the 1st inning to put the home team up early. He finished with a stat line every player dreams of: 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two walks. The HiToms continued to add on throughout the game, with an offensive performance punctuated by a six-run outburst in the 6th inning.
Maddux Holshouser started on the mound for HP-Thomasville in a game where seven HiTom pitchers saw action. Holshouser sat down Disco Turkeys early and often, striking out six while allowing just one hit in three innings of action. Cam Edmonds, Trey Cooper, Avery Cain, Ben Peterson and finally Tristan Snyder brought the game home out of the bullpen.
The HiToms will now embark on a week-long Coastal Plain League road trip, starting with a double-header in Forest City on Friday evening.
