The Carolina Disco Turkeys travel to Thomasville on Saturday night for an exhibition against the 5-1 High Point-Thomasville HiToms. Last night, the HiToms slammed five home runs, with two 400+ foot homers from 2020 Coastal Plain League Hitter of the Year Hogan Windish. Windish’s seventh-inning grand slam travelled 480 feet, the longest distance ever measured at Finch Field.

Tonight, the HiToms look to win once again behind their power bats. The HiToms have added an entirely new infield core, led by third baseman Thomas Caufield and first baseman Noah Ledford. Caufield had the second of five homers last night, and Ledford sliced an RBI double to left field in Thursday night’s suspended game.

More newcomers will play a role on Saturday. Head Coach Scott Davis has added Ohio University pitchers Colin Sells and Chace Harris and UNC Catcher Max Riemer. Harris is expected to immediate slot into the rotation for HP-T, coming off of his senior year at Ohio. This spring, Harris broke onto the scene in Athens, with a 3.25 ERA in 13 appearances. Harris struck out 43 while walking just 16.

Harris is quite familiar with the Coastal Plain League, pitching for the Macon Bacon over the past two summers. In 2019, Harris was a CPL All-Star out of the rotation, starting seven games and producing a 2.45 ERA for the South Division Champions.

Riemer just arrived from UNC after the Tar Heels exited the NCAA Tournament. As a backup for Tomas Frick, Riemer hit .258 with five runs batted in. At Walters State Community College, the Chattanooga, Tennessee native hit .322/.450/.415

First pitch tonight is at 6:05 p.m. The HiToms are off on Sunday before returning to CPL play against the Copperheads in a Monday doubleheader. First pitch for tomorrow’s doubleheader is at 6:00 p.m. All games can be seen at FloBaseball.tv.
