The High Point-Thomasville HiToms used three home runs to beat the Asheboro Copperheads for the second-straight night, 8-2 on Friday night.

The skies were clear in Thomasville on Friday when the fourth matchup in six days between the High Point-Thomasville HiToms and Asheboro Copperheads got underway. The weather would not remain clear, as the game was called in the 7th inning due to a sudden downpour.

The weather wasn’t the only rain at historic Finch Field on Friday. The HiTom bats rained home run balls down on the Copperhead pitching, hitting three bombs off of Asheboro starter Logan Martin. Noah Ledford, Thomas Caufield, and Von Seibert skipped the yard, with Seibert adding another 3-run shot in the 7th that did not officially count, as the game was called after the last fully completed inning.

Will Lancaster continued to prove his mettle on the mound for HPT. He went the “full” six innings, striking out four and allowing just one earned run. Lancaster showcased his excellent command, walking only one Copperhead compared to those four strikeouts.

The HiToms will hit the road and travel to Martinsville, where they are scheduled for a bout with the Mustangs tomorrow night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., and the game is available to stream on flobaseball.tv.
