High Point/Thomasville – The HPT HiToms defeated the Macon Bacon 6-5 after a Josh Foulks was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the tenth!
The Bacon opened the line in the third inning, scoring one off an error. After scoring two in the fifth, C Nate Snankenborg drove in SS Robbie Lane to grab a 4-0 lead in the seventh.
In the bottom of the seventh, RF Josh Foulks scored off a sacrifice fly from LF Alejandro Rodriguez and 2B Sam Dansky darted home on a Wild Pitch from southpaw Andrew Elkhid, making the score 4-2.
RHP Brantley Willis tossed two scoreless innings to keep the score 4-2 headed to the bottom of the ninth.
In the bottom of the ninth, C Aaron Williams and 2B Sam Dansky both tallied one out singles. With runners on first and second, a wild pitch from LHP Noah Scott left two runners in scoring position. Then, LF Alejandro Rodriguez ripped a fastball into left field, falling in front of LF Yadiel Perez. Both runners scored, and the game was tied at 4. SS Landon Mowery then ripped a single into right, and Rodriguez was called out at the plate in a bang-bang play. The game was sent to extras.
In the top of the tenth, RHP Brantley Willis worked out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam, only allowing one run. In the bottom of the tenth, the HiToms were in a similar spot–bases loaded, no outs. Then, SS Landon Mowery worked a walk after falling down 1-2 to drive in the tying run, 5-5. RF Josh Foulks stepped up the plate and RHP Andrew Lowery hit him in the left elbow, walking off the game. HiToms win, 6-5 in 10 innings!
