As Brandon Urie once sang, “Oh, it’s Saturday night!”
The HiToms look to channel Panic! At the Disco’s energy with their fourth win in a row to start the Coastal Plain League schedule on Saturday night in Asheboro. The 3-0 HiToms face the 1-2 Copperheads at 7:05 p.m.
The HiToms are one of four undefeated teams across the Coastal Plain League with Savannah, Morehead City and Peninsula. Pitching has been their early season strength. In three games, it’s been a tough task to square up the HiToms. HP-Thomasville has a league-best 1.17 ERA, with 41 strikeouts in just 23 innings.
The strength of the HiToms bullpen will be put to the test tonight with a bullpen game scheduled. In yesterday’s doubleheader in Forest City, The HP-T bullpen allowed only one run and striking out 12 Owls at the plate in six innings.
On the offensive end, the middle of the order will look to stay productive on Saturday. In the HiToms 4-1, game two win, Von Seibert homered to deep right-center field to lead off the scoring. Seibert has been top tier in the HiToms Exit Velocity leaderboards, with multiple balls hit over 100 mph this season. 2020 CPL Hitter of the Year Hogan Windish followed Seibert, smashing a three-run home run for his first home run of 2021.
The HiToms and Copperheads start at 7:05 p.m. tonight. The game can be seen at FloBaseball.tv. The next home game for the HiToms is Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. versus the Martinsville Ponies.
