Geared towards developing our community’s future leaders and also providing a defined baseball development path, the Post 87 HiToms will feature three age-division squads this summer.
The signature team will be the HPT Post 87 HiToms and will be comprised of the area’s best amateur 19U baseball players. Featuring numerous college signees and a 2021 regular season co-Northern Division Championship, nine Post 87 alumni saw time last season on the organization’s parent HiToms CPL roster.
“The HiToms organization is committed to enhancing the lives of HPT’s amateur ballplayers by providing them with a regional, elite level of baseball,” Post 87 HiToms Athletic Director Greg Suire said. “North Carolina and more specifically Area 3 provides an extremely competitive playing field and ultimately this ‘team oriented’ environment bridges their college baseball ascension.”
The second level of the Post 87 HiToms is the P41 Jr. HiToms squad. Comprised of 17U players, the Jr. HiToms posted a stellar season in 2021 finishing third in the state tournament and collecting their first-ever regular season division crown. Playing in Area 3 as well, the Jr. HiToms will launch their season in mid-May and wrap up the summer by hosting the North Carolina Jr. State Tournament at Historic Finch Field July 21-25. The final piece of the Post 87 HiToms American Legion program is the Scarlets. Made up of rising ninth and tenth graders, the Scarlets play on a regional basis as well and will boast some of the HPT’s best young talent.
