High Point-Thomasville, NC – After a successful debut in 2021, Mickey Truck Bodies and the High Point-Thomasville HiToms are teaming up again to host the Second Annual Mickey Truck Bodies Kick-Off Classic, a preseason football jamboree featuring nine game-like scrimmages between 13 area high schools.
High Point Central, Southwest Guilford, Andrews, High Point Christian Academy, Randleman, North Davidson, Oak Grove, Thomasville, Ledford, Wheatmore, East Davidson, Bishop McGuinness and Ragsdale headline this year’s event that quickly grew from eight teams in 2021 to 13 squads this year.
Played over three nights – Wednesday August 10th and Thursday August 11th at Truist Point Stadium and Friday August 12th at Simeon Stadium in the High Point Athletic Complex – the jamboree contest on Wednesday, August 10th between High Point Central and Ragsdale will serve as the first-ever football game in High Point’s downtown stadium. The contest between the Bison and Tigers will be game one of a pigskin doubleheader as fellow High Point area schools Andrews and High Point Christian Academy square off in evening’s nightcap.
“Following last year’s success, Mickey Truck Bodies, the HiToms and co-director High Point Central Athletic Director Mike Cook felt that participant growth was the obvious next step,” HiToms President Greg Suire said. “We are thrilled that all city of High Point area football programs are participating this year and the Mickey Truck Bodies Football Classic is fulfilling a downtown revitalization cornerstone offered years ago when the stadium initiative was originally unveiled,” Suire said.
Day two of the Mickey Truck Bodies Kick-Off Classic will also see Truist Point as the center of Triad high school football as fellow Furniture City resident Southwest Guilford tangles with North Davidson in game one and Randleman completes the doubleheader with the Black Knights from North Davidson in the 8:00 pm match-up. The MTB Triad Kick-Off Classic concludes Friday night at Simeon Stadium when Ledford, Thomasville, East Davidson, Oak Grove, Bishop McGuiness and Wheatmore descend upon the High Point Athletic Complex for day three of the Mickey Truck Bodies football event.
