A former HiTom, Chris McGuiness, was part of a trade deal in the MLB with the Red Sox & Rangers.
The Boston Red Sox traded a pair of minor-league prospects (first baseman Chris McGuiness and pitcher Roman Mendez) on Saturday to the Texas Rangers in exchange for catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia.
McGuiness, 22, was batting .298 (84-for-282) with 20 doubles, 12 homers and 46 RBIs in 78 games at Class A Greenville in 2010. The left-handed batter led the Drive in homers and walks (53) and ranked second in average and RBIs. He was a 13th-round draft pick in 2009.
